Work Description:

GP Bluestone successfully completed the full reconstruction of Tyson Street in Fawkner for Merri-Bek City Council. The project included upgrading the drainage system with new concrete pipes and pits, installing new kerbs and channels, and rebuilding concrete footpaths and crossings for improved pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Reinstated the asphalt pavement materials, enhancing the road’s durability and sustainability. Landscaping works and tree protection measures were carried out to preserve the local environment.

Work Description:

GP Bluestone was engaged by the City of Whittlesea to deliver a streetscape upgrade along Alexander Avenue in Thomastown. The project focused on transforming the area into a safer, more accessible and vibrant community space while improving local infrastructure. Works included the installation of exposed aggregate concrete footpaths, pram ramps and vehicular pavement, along with new kerbs, channels, and a raised pedestrian crossing. Feature brick paving, seating, lighting, custom furniture and a new drinking fountain were also installed to enhance public amenity.

Significant landscaping works were completed, including raised garden beds, new tree planting, turf laying and mulching. The upgrade also included a redesigned carpark with new asphalt surfacing, AG drains, wheel stops, line marking and tactiles to improve safety and accessibility. Drainage infrastructure was upgraded with new pits, RCPs and connections to garden beds. Additional works such as electrical upgrades, tree removals, and reinstatement of surrounds were carried out with minimal disruption to nearby businesses and residents.

The revitalised streetscape now offers improved pedestrian access, safer crossings, modern lighting, and community-friendly spaces that support both daily use and local events.

In collaboration with Porous Lane, we installed 14 tree surrounds using 380 recycled tyres. This innovative and sustainable solution improves stormwater filtration, supports urban tree health, and helps divert tyre waste from landfill—highlighting our commitment to environmentally conscious construction and circular economy practices.

GP Bluestone was engaged by Glen Eira City Council to deliver the full reconstruction of Lawrance Street in Murrumbeena, as part of the city’s ongoing upgrades to local infrastructure. The scope of works included extensive demolition of existing road pavement, kerb and footpaths, followed by excavation and installation of new drainage infrastructure, including RCP pipes and various standard drainage pits. The road was rebuilt and finished with asphalt. New concrete footpaths and vehicle crossings were constructed, along with coloured concrete paving to match the surrounding streetscape. Additional works included installation of tactile indicators, property stormwater connections, reinstatement of nature strips with topsoil and grass seeding, and full line marking and signage upgrades. All works were delivered under live traffic and pedestrian conditions, requiring detailed traffic management planning and constant coordination with local residents. The project was completed to Council specification, on time and with minimal disruption to the community.

Work Description:

GP Bluestone was engaged by the City of Whittlesea to deliver streetscape upgrades along Tramoo Street in Lalor. The scope focused on revitalising the public space through a combination of civil, drainage and landscape works, while improving accessibility, safety, and pedestrian amenity.

Works commenced with extensive demolition, including the removal of existing kerbs, footpaths, road pavements, vehicle crossings, signage, street furniture, and underground drainage assets. The drainage scope involved the installation and modification of side entry pits, grated pits, junction pits, and trench grates, along with RCP stormwater and agricultural drains with its integration into the existing drainage system.

Road pavement works included the reconstruction of base and wearing courses using VicRoads-approved asphalt materials, profiling works, and raised bluestone/asphalt pavements at intersections. Reinforced concrete paving was constructed throughout, including coloured and patterned finishes, new pram crossings, and footpaths.

Street furniture upgrades included outdoor bench seats, signage (regulatory and advisory), Linemarking using long-life thermoplastics, and the installation of pedestrian asphalt pavements and tactile ground surface indicators. Services such as Telstra pits, water valves, hydrants, and signal infrastructure were adjusted to suit new surface levels.

Soft landscaping works were completed in coordination with the civil scope, including batters, topsoil installation, and site clean-up.

This project demonstrates GP Bluestone’s capability to deliver integrated streetscape, and infrastructure works within an operational urban environment, with a strong focus on safety, stakeholder communication, and quality delivery.

GP Bluestone was engaged by Brimbank City Council to transform an underutilised street corner in St Albans into the vibrant Leslie Street Pocket Park. The project involved extensive civil and landscaping works to improve local amenity and urban greening.

Key works included site regrading, new kerb and channel, reinforced concrete pavements, and a 200mm thick concrete road pavement. Drainage upgrades featured new stormwater pits, house drain connections, agricultural drains, and a raingarden built to WSUD standards.

Hardscape improvements included cobblestone paving, coloured concrete traffic islands, retaining walls, planter beds, and raised edges. New street furniture such as benches, bike racks, bollards, and custom seating enhanced usability. Lighting upgrades with new switchboards, pits, streetlights, and underground cabling improved safety.

Soft landscaping included garden beds, tree surrounds with porous resin paving, recycled timber mulch, edging, and tree planting, creating a balanced, accessible space for passive recreation.

The Leslie Street Pocket Park showcases GP Bluestone’s expertise in delivering complex inner-urban landscape upgrades in close collaboration with council, resulting in a functional and welcoming community space.

GP Bluestone proudly delivered Stage 3 of the Sydenham Park Trails project, focusing on a 3-meter-wide shared walking and cycling trail on VicRoads land adjacent to the Calder Freeway and Kings Road. This no-excavation, environmentally sensitive project required careful coordination to protect existing native vegetation and wildlife, strictly following the Wildlife & Ecology Construction Environment Management Plan.

Our scope included installation of high-quality Victorian-sourced basalt and bluestone rock edging to seamlessly blend with the natural landscape, construction of durable Dromana toppings pathways reinforced with Geo-Hex interlocking cells, and the delivery of sustainable stormwater solutions with slotted drainage. A key feature was the installation of no-dig 12-meter boardwalks and wildlife bridges manufactured by Fleetwood, ensuring minimal ground disturbance while enhancing trail connectivity.

The works also included concrete pads for furniture fixings, installation of drinking fountains, bike racks, and street furniture, all placed with care to maintain site integrity. Temporary fencing, traffic management, and site facilities were expertly managed to minimise disruption and protect the environment.

GP Bluestone successfully delivered major streetscape upgrades along Exhibition Street, improving pedestrian safety and public amenity in one of Melbourne’s busiest cultural and hospitality precincts. The works spanned key frontages including the Rydges and Marriott Hotels, and the Comedy and Her Majesty’s Theatres.

Our scope included full pavement reconstruction with new bluestone footpaths and raised bicycle paths, demolition and disposal of existing road and footpath surfaces, installation of new garden beds with irrigation, stormwater upgrades, and provision of electrical infrastructure for future events. Custom street furniture, new tree plots, and road resurfacing with line marking completed the transformation.

Works were delivered in tight stages, maintaining continuous access to surrounding properties and coordinating with stakeholders to minimise disruption. A combination of day and night works ensured smooth progress through Melbourne’s busy CBD.

GP Bluestone was able to deliver the full reconstruction of Joseph Road in Footscray, a key part of the area's transformation into a high-density residential precinct. This complex project involves major drainage upgrades, new road pavement, footpaths, landscaping, public lighting, and associated infrastructure.

Works include the installation of over 1,000 metres of reinforced concrete stormwater pipes—ranging up to 1500mm in diameter—new junction and side entry pits, sawn bluestone kerbs, concrete footpaths, asphalt surfacing, and high-end landscaping treatments. The project also includes electrical civil works in coordination with Jemena, fencing along VicTrack boundaries, and construction of concrete sleeper retaining walls.

GP Bluestone was proud to deliver the critical drainage upgrade works at the Shrine of Remembrance, one of Melbourne’s most significant heritage sites. The project involved extensive trenching, pipe installation, pit construction, and surface reinstatement, all executed with sensitivity to the historic and landscaped setting.

Working under the guidance of the City of Melbourne, our team carefully coordinated

works included the installation of reinforced concrete box culverts (RCBC), large diameter RCP and UPVC drainage pipes, new grated pits, and full restoration of pavements and turf. Special attention was given to restoring existing bluestone channels along Birdwood Avenue using original pavers, preserving the site's historic character.
